Thank you, Wayne, for organizing another enjoyable event at the Strand in Marietta Square. It was great to see everyone (and get out of the house to something fun for a change.) Metropolis is an incredibly good film and seeing it on the big screen was a real treat. So much detail in the sets and costumes that can be missed on the small screen. And thanks to the Strand for having great holiday decorations up. The lobby was beautiful.
Yes! That lobby was amazing. Another sign of how much thought and care the Strand puts into EVERYTHING.
What makes Metropolis so wild and fun for me is I always feel like I just got off a ride — exhausted while in a little daze. It throws so much at you for 2.5 hours and has truly stunning art direction. It also is such an easy movie to talk about for a long time. A lot of wild ideas and themes in there.
Thank you to everyone who voted for this movie. Unlike everyone else, I had never seen this movie. I really enjoyed it, especially afterwards going to dinner with other members of CFFA, the conversation is awesome. I love being with this group of people, who totally understand my love of old movies.
