I love all those old creepy horror movies with David Niven like the one of the wax museum and another where he's the brother in that really creepy old mansion. (Please forgive me for not mentioning the names, but it's almost 3:30 in the morning and my brain isn't up to snuff.) There is just something about David Niven that makes him synonymous with the word creepy. He should've gotten an Oscar for being so creepy!!!
Then there's Doris Day, the complete antithesis of creepy!! She is so beautiful in all of her movies and always has that girl next door demeanor in her movies, with the exception of a few. In The Glass Bottom Boat, when Rod Taylor reels in her bathingsuit, or later on in his kitchen, when the cleaning robot comes out and starts chasing her all over Rod Taylor's kitchen, or how about when Dick Martin ends up in bed with another man instead of Doris Day, as he had previously arranged (or at least, he thought he had!) OMG, it's hysterical!!
And what about the movie, Please Don't Eat the Daisies with Doris Day and (you guessed it!) David Niven. Hard to believe that King Creepy could play the role of Doris Day's husband, although he does cop an attitude as a theatre critic. They have four very precocious boys with the youngest being such a huge escape artist, that they have to keep him under lock and key!! They live in an apartment in Manhattan and decide to move to a rickety old mansion (a real fixer upper!!) in the country and commute to work by train every day.
I love Please Don't Eat the Daisies! It makes me smile when I watch as I sing along... I confess to not being a big fan of Horror movies... The Fly, Psycho and The Hand are the scariest movies I have seen... I don't like to be scared in the movies... Plus it is already dark! So, I don't know Creepy David Niven...
