When our group watched "I'm No Angel" from our homes, we knew we had to soon do Mae West justice and watch one of her films on the big screen.
So we returned to SMG Marietta to check out "She Done Him Wrong," with Mae and Cary Grant, even watching an animated ahead of the film. The whole thing was very transporting, combining a short before a feature and hearing/seeing Mae West deliver perfect one-liners seemingly every second.
"Why don't you come up some time and see me?" is one of the famous lines in movie history, thanks to Mae. But it's really impossible to not think about four or five other lines that West comes up with.
In a nice twist, an unbeknownst to us ahead of time, this is the only West film to earn an Oscar nomination — and we watched this the same day of the Academy Awards.
After the movie, we went to Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q and talked about more favorites. With the weather warmer, we hope to do even more fun in-person events through summer.
