Yes! That lobby was amazing. Another sign of how much thought and care the Strand puts into EVERYTHING. What makes Metropolis so wild and fun for me is I always feel like I just got off a ride — exhausted while in a little daze. It throws so much at you for 2.5 hours and has truly stunning art direction. It also is such an easy movie to talk about for a long time. A lot of wild ideas and themes in there.

I'm glad you wrote this, Ben — I thought I was going crazy. I know I parked in the same garage last year and it was free then. Oh well. Sometimes things are too good to (remain) true. Thankfully, seeing the movie on the big screen with live music made that surprise not sting as much!

I really need to see some of Loy's earlier movies! I'll have to start making a list and seeing what's available on streaming.
