In 1957, Academy award winning actress Susan Hayward wed Eaton Chalkley, a former federal agent, rancher & businessman. They settled in his hometown of Carrollton where they lived happily until his untimely death on Jan. 9, 1966. Hayward then left Carrollton, as she reportedly could not bear to continue living there without him. However upon her passing in 1975, per her request she was buried next to Chalkley in Carrollton.
